An Israel Air Force aircraft on Sunday afternoon, 24 Menachem Av, carried out an attack on a vehicle in Gaza that reportedly was used by a terror cell to fire balloon bombs into southern Israel. The Gaza media reports at least two persons were wounded as a result of the strike.
The IDF Spokesman Unit released the following statement: “An IDF aircraft carried out an attack on a vehicle that served as a squad to fire balloon bombs and also at a terrorist cell that fired Molotov cocktails from the northern Gaza Strip towards the territory of the State of Israel.”
The balloon bombs have been plaguing southern Israeli communities that border Gaza, setting agricultural fields on fire daily. Some balloons have also been reported to have landed as far north as Beersheva, and in the southern Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo, fired from neighboring PA (Palestine Authority) controlled Beit Jala.
