According to an Israel Radio report, a “serious incident” was averted when the Israel Air Forces targeted and eliminated seven terrorists in the Syrian Golan Heights on Thursday morning, 21 Menachem Av. According to the statement released by the IDF Spokesman Unit, “several armed terrorists were targeted in the Syrian Golan Heights overnight”.

It was also reported that an inspection of the strike area Thursday morning revealed bomb belts and at least one AK-47 Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman visited the Northern Command as a training preparedness exercise simulating a war was held. It is stressed the IDF reports the training event was scheduled in advance and it was not in response to current events along the border.

Liberman told reporters he believes the situation in Syria will return to what it was prior to the civil war in that country.
