Following the petira of HaGaon HaRav Asher Tannenbaum ZT”L in Shevat, Gedolei Yisrael Shlita are expected to convene in the coming days to appoint a new chairman for the Vaad HaYeshivos, which was headed by the niftar.
Ladaat reports the likely successor appears to be the niftar’s son-in-law, Rav Chaim Aaron Kaufman, who today is Rosh Yeshivas Amshinov Yerushalayim. The final decision will be made by HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Halevy Wosner Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Nissim Karelitz Shlita.
The gedolim are particular anxious to fill the position in part due to the ongoing turmoil surrounding government efforts to recruit bnei yeshivos in the IDF.
