Opposition leader MK Binyamin Netanyahu has filed a NIS 2 million libel suit against Channel 10 TV, after the news on last Thursday reported the former prime minister wasted NIS 131,000 during a visit to the UK during the Second Lebanon War.
Netanyahu explained that his trip was a public relations mission to counter the growing anti-Israel propaganda, and it was funded by Israel Bonds and other contributors, without taking a penny of state money.
He called the Channel 10 report part of the mainstream press’ witch hunt against him in the ongoing effort to compromise his growing political popularity.
“Our stay in London didn’t cost the State of Israel one shekel and was funded entirely by me, as I paid out of pocket for all my private expenses. What we have here is political persecution and an attempt to prevent the Likud, and me in particular, to achieve leadership of this country, as most of the public wants,” Netanyahu said.

Yet again. How boring!! When will the silly left wing media in Israel think up something original already? We are sick of hearing that Netanyahu is miserly/ostentatious, cold/sweaty, pressurised/firm, forgetful/smart etc. etc. I vote UTJ obviously but if I were a chiloni, I would probably vote Netanyahu just to spite the media!!
