Matzah Prices Increase Significantly Across Eretz Yisroel

matzah.thumbnail.jpgAn increase in wheat, flour and water costs are the reasons given for the approximately 30% increase in the price of matzah ahead of Pesach.

According to Rav Eli Yehuda, of Ateret Yerushalayim Matzah, people are complacent, perhaps due to the two months of Adar, and he strongly advises shoppers to pick up their matzah as soon as possible to avoid additional price increases before the yom tov.

Rav Yehuda stated consumers are making an mistake to wait and they will save money by picking up their matzah as soon as they can, indicating additional price increases are expected.

  1. As if the price of matzos is with such a slim margin that they can’t absorb a bit of the price rise. This is such a money fresser. The price of wheat etc is such a minor part of the price maybe 2-3% percent or less. This is such a sad joke if you think into it. Stealing another 30% on an already expensive product that all yidden desperately need.

Buy as soon as possible so we don’t ch”v stay with any stock and we get your money ASAP. What reason should there be to pick up the price even further???????? They are scared people will hesitate to buy because of the high prices and they will be forced to drop the prices.
Not mentioning names the way some of our heimishe companies rake in money through monopolizing some jewish markets is outrageous…………. Take wine, matzos etc…..

  3. Well for hand matzo the Eida HaCharedis imposed a 25% increase by artificially setting the prices the workers can charge at 4.6 shekel to the dollar even though the true rate is 3.4. This way when the dollar goes up we pay more and when it goes down we pay more. Thanks a lot.
