Last week YWN-Israel reported a 20-month-old child from Tzefas was fighting for her life after accidentally being run over with a vehicle driven by her father.
The child was brought to the emergency room at the Ziv Medical Center by Magen David Adom paramedics, arriving in critical condition. The child was taken to the trauma unit, suffering from severe internal bleeding and collapse of major bodily systems.
This led to her going into cardiac arrest. CPR was implemented, and she was then taken to surgery, which was performed by three senior surgeons, along with other doctors and nurses. They worked to stop the massive bleeding in her chest cavity and to repair her left lung, which was badly damaged. They also addressed fractures in her upper torso. There were no signs of head injuries B”H.
Following the extensive surgery, the toddler was admitted to a pediatric intensive unit, listed in extremely critical condition, sedated and connected to a respirator.
Dr. Yuri Wiener, Chief of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Ziv Medical Center, said: “During the intensive treatment period, vital medical procedures were performed when the infant was anesthetized and connected to a respirator. Towards the end of the week, there were signs of improvement in the situation and her condition. At the beginning of the week, the pediatric intensive care unit helped the toddler with a slow process of respiration, and today it is possible to say that the toddler is well, fully conscious, breathing on her own, smiling, playing and even taking a few steps, with the help of nurses and parents. We are very pleased with the progress of her recovery.
Dr. Lily HaYa’ari, head of pediatric surgery added: “The toddler was seriously injured in the upper part of her body due to the trampling, along with severe chest and lung injuries. Her condition deteriorated quickly in the trauma room and she needed emergency surgery to save her life, which included opening the chest and stopping bleeding in the abdomen and lungs. She was hospitalized in a pediatric intensive care unit, breathing and on a respirator, surrounded by an extended team of doctors and nurses who worked around the clock to save her life. After a few days the baby recovered, her condition gradually improved, and she was transferred to the pediatric surgery unit when she was already in a stable and alert state. Today she moves around, eats, smiles and is remaining for continued treatment, rehabilitation and supervision in the ward and will probably be released in the next few days to her family. We wish the sweet toddler full health, “says Dr. Hari.
The parents, who remained at the child’s side, added, “We thank HKBH for his miracles, along with the staff at Ziv Medical Center who acted as HKBH’s loyal emissaries to save the life of our dear daughter and bring her back to us whole and healthy.”

Also, thank you to YWN for posting the update…
Bh.nice to hear some good news.
But maybe we could be left out “run over by her her father” from the headlines,at least. At minimum added “mistakenly run over by her father”.Try to Imagine his unfathomable pain.
thanks “concerned mom”!
yes – YWN – do you REALLY have to write “run over by her her father”?
I just don’t understand where the editors are!!!
Is there no one on your staff who thought that was problematic??
