The president of Ariel University, Professor Yehuda Danon, claims that the university heads committee boycotts the university because of its location in Shomron. In a letter to Science Minister Ofir Akunis and published by reporter Eliran Tal of News 20, the university president wrote: “Unfortunately, from 2005 until this very day, the university heads ‘committee does not recognize Ariel University and is not prepared to accept it as a member of the university heads’ forum.

At the same time, an organization called “Israeli Academics for Peace”, headed by Prof. Nir Gov of the Weizmann Institute of Science, defames Ariel University as an entirely false academy on the grounds that Ariel is not in the territory of the State of Israel.
