Dr. Yehudit Abrams, a former olah from California, a MD, engineer and former NASA researcher, is the president and founder of MonitHer, which has become the latest recipient of the WeWork Creator Award for her state-of-the-art handheld ultrasound monitor which permits women to detect changes/abnormalities in breast tissue, thereby alerting alert her to the need to see her physician.
The award comes with a $360,00 prize.
The unit has already earned FDA approval for its software. The software has out-performed radiologists by 15% in differentiating between malignant and benign tumors in multiple studies around the US, permitting women to check themselves once monthly, a process that takes no more than ten minutes. The monitor significantly increases the ability of early detection, which has proven to be life-saving.
The second-place award, which includes a $180,000 prize, went to the developer of the SensPD device for detecting autism.
