As Shas is working to bring about achdus in the Elad elections, HaRav Yosef Chaim Abarjil from Netivot has announced his endorsement of Mayor Yisrael Porush, who is seeking reelection in the race.

Shas Chairman Minister Aryeh Deri is not certain who he wishes to see in City Hall following elections, but he has announced that he is certain that Porush must be ousted.

Rav Abarjil hosted city council members in his home, those aligned with Porush as well as Avi Dayan, who is close to the mayor. Rabbi Abarjil was full of words of praise for Porush, speaking of his Yiras Shomayim, dedication and success in the city.

The situation in Elad is complicated as Degel Hatorah is interested in running its own candidate, hoping to gain Shas support. Both parties agree they wish to oust Mayor Porush, who is far from throwing in the towel.
