The head of Likud in Bnei Brak, Yaakov Vider, is expected to announce a party list for the upcoming municipal elections in the city. According to a Kikar Shabbos news report, Likud will be teaming up with Bayit Yehudi in the municipal elections, which but guarantees them representation in the city council, a reality that will negatively impact the chareidim.
Vider emerged the victor in local primaries a number of months ago. He now plans to run for a seat on the city council. The Likud list failed to gain a seat on the council in the 2013 elections. However, the party has grown locally and Vider is now confident he will be serving on the council after the next elections.
In the Knesset elections, Likud received 3,591 votes in Bnei Brak. Bayit Yehudi received 1,848 votes.
Kikar Shabbos adds that MK David Bitan, who is in charge of local elections for the party, confirms Likud in Bnei Brak is in touch with Bayit Yehudi officials.
