Both the families of Lt. Hadar Goldin HY”D and Sgt. Oron Shaul HY”D, who were killed in Operation Protective Edge, boycotted a memorial for the fallen in that counter-terrorism offensive in Gaza. Hamas snatched the bodies of the two fallen soldiers and continues holding them. The memorial was held to mark the fourth anniversary of the operation, which was held in the summer of 2014.

The memorial was held at Har Herzl Military Cemetery in Jerusalem. Simultaneously, representatives of 15 families protested outside the Prime Minister’s Residence. They accuse the administration of falling short on its promise to make the return of the bodies a high priority.

The families, especially the Goldins, have taken their case to the UN and other international forums, working tirelessly to bring the remains of Hadar home for kvura in Israel.
