In recent days, some of the Sephardic rabbonim and roshei yeshiva opposed to the new draft law have been exposed to deny any connection to the call to participate in the rally against the draft law, and even add that they do not object to the law. Their names were affixed to a proclamation supporting the rally.
This was revealed after the last few days, showing the split among Sephardi poskim as a letter was signed by dozens of Sephardic rabbis in favor of the demonstrations on the subject of enlistment against the position of the Moetzas Chachmei HaTorah.
According to a Kikar Shabbos News report, a number of prominent Sephardic rabbonim have come out in letters in their own handwriting, in which they explicitly declare that they had no intention whatsoever of supporting such a conference and do not interfere with the draft law.
The rabbis are subordinate to the positions of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky and Chacham HaGaon HaRav Shlomo Cohen, head of the Moetzas Chachmei HaTorah of Shas, and clarify that the authority in these matters are Gedolei Hador.
Rabbonim distancing themselves from rally include HaGaon Rav Shlomo Ben-Shimon, HaGaon Rav Shlomo Machpud, HaGaon Rav Tzvi Fadida, HaGaon Rav Moshe Chizkiyahu, HaGaon Rav Yaakov Sharbani, HaGaon Rav Amnon Sabag, HaGaon Rav Tzvi Siman Tov and HaGaon Rav Yaakov Zechariah.

This is why one must be very careful about criticizing the statements or supposed action of Talmedy Chachomim. There are liars and deceivers amongst us that have their own agenda and it is not the same the guardians of the Torah.
This is why one must be very careful about criticizing statements – because after they signed the letter (following the declaration the same rabbanim signed, after their meeting a few weeks ago), Aryeh Deri and his minions come along and put pressure on the more compliant rabbanim and warn them of the possible ramifications for their yeshivos etc. if they don’t retract their signatures.
Anyone with a connection to Shas has to watch his step, or else. Those not affiliated have less to worry about, such as Harav Moshe Tzadka. As always, it’s a question of $$.
