IDF ombudsman Major-General (reserves) Yitzchak Brik this week warned of failures in the IDF that might bring to question its readiness for war. He spoke of shortcomings in the military’s operational capabilities, questioning the IDF’s readiness for war.
Speaking that night, Monday, 12 Tammuz, at an event honoring IDF reservists, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gadi Eizenkott announced the military stands ready for war.
Eizenkott explained that he visits training exercises and maintains a finger on the daily pulse of the military, which he insists stands ready for warfare, as the military has been implementing his five-year efficiency program.
Speaking of the challenges on both Israel’s northern and southern borders, the IDF commander stated the key is the spirit of the people, as well as skills level and equipment. He stressed the necessity of unity and the pivotal role played by the reservists, the backbone of the IDF. He added the skill level of reservists has improved as well, as there are more reservists taking part in training.
