Will 500 Beis Yaakov Yerushalayim Girls Be Without A School?

A regulation that was never implemented in Jerusalem, but recently implemented, will result in 500 Beis Yaakov students having to vacate their building. The Jerusalem Municipality has turned to the High Court of Justice in the hope of preventing this from occurring. The city explains if the girls have to vacate the building, they will have nowhere to go so the city has petitioned the High Court in the hope of delaying the lower court’s decision to vacate the premises.

Although the ruling determined that the decision of the Jerusalem municipality to allocate the building to the Beis Yaakov (Klein) School was substantially correct and was duly accepted and the position of the municipality, but only because of the insistence of the Ministry of Education to intervene in the process based on an old regulation, one that has never been implemented prior to this, 500 students will find themselves without a place to study in the upcoming school year.

  1. YWN, can you please explain what is going on here? Your report gives no hard information about the “regulation” or the background.
