IDF Northern District Commander Major-General Yoel Struk sent a clear message to Iran, they “we will not permit a strike against Israel”.
Speaking at an event to honor the fighters of the past, Struk addressed the continued Iranian military buildup in Syria, “We are working to drive the next war further away and at the same time to improve our readiness for the day of order”
“We are in a complex period from a security perspective … We will not allow an attack on Israel,” said Northern Command Chief General Yoel Struk, referring to Iran’s military involvement in Syria. Struk said this during an event honoring the 1948 fighters in Caesarea.
“Iran is trying to turn Syria into a position under its absolute control and is using its bases on Syrian soil to attack Israel and destabilize security in the entire region,” Struk was quoted as saying on Ynet. “In Lebanon, Hizbullah continues to violate the UN resolution, to intensify and to operate in the border area, with the feeling that we are not aware of its operatives’ activities. We will not allow harm to Israel, and we will continue to exercise maximum freedom of action in order to ensure this.
“Commanders, the task of our generation is not fundamentally different from that of the generations before us, and we are working to remove the next war and at the same time to improve our preparedness for the day of command, if and when we need another battle in one arena or several arenas at the same time. In your courageous, resolute steps. In the name of the entire IDF, I salute you. ”
