Acting as shluchim of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, representatives of Degel Hatorah have been meeting with and briefing officials of the Agudas Yisrael Moetzas Gedolei Torah. MK Moshe Gafne and the secretary of the Council, Rav Avraham Rubinstein, met with the Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita to discuss the new draft law.
According to a Kikar Shabbos News report, Hagaon HaRav Kanievsky instructed the two to tell the Rebbe Shlita “We must all act together, total achdus regarding efforts to maintain the status of bnei yeshivos.”
Gafne and Rubinstein provided responses to the rebbe regarding matters of concern discussed by the admorim during the recent session of the Agudas Yisrael Moetzas Gedolei Torah. Gafne explained that in the opinion of the Gedolei Torah from the Degel Council, this draft law is the “least of the evils” and following a few changes, it can be deemed acceptable.
In addition, Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman on Tuesday evening the eve of 7 Tammuz, visited the Belzer Rebbe Shlita in Telshe Stone to brief him on the draft law.
Kikar Shabbos adds that Litzman explained a version of the law that is accepted to all members of both Torah Councils and this will permit agreement and cooperation between the three chareidi parties; Shas, Agudas Yisrael and Degel Hatorah.
