MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Moshe Gafne has given his word to MK (Arab List) Ahmed Tibi that his party would not vote in favor of the Muezzin Bill, which seeks to limit the volume and broadcast times of mosques in Israel. The Arab legislators have been strongly against the bill.
A deal was brewing between the Arabs and chareidim months ago, in which the chareidim will defeat the Muezzin Bill and the Arabs in turn, will vote against a draft bill that the chareidi legislators are opposed to.
It happened during a session of the Knesset Finance Committee, which is chaired by Gafne. Tibi asked if he, Gafne, was good to his word and the chareidim would in fact defeat the Muezzin Bill to prevent it from passing into law. Gafne assured Dr. Tibi the bill would not be permitted to advance and voted into law.
MK Uri Maklev added the chareidim opposed the Muezzin Bill from the onset and they remain loyal to their word, opposing it today.

This could also be called the “Shabbos siren” bill, since the muezzin bill would also necessarily also ban the siren. Good to see that religious MKs can cooperate when it’s in all their best interests.
This is Israel.
The arabs can have SMS TEXTS.
