Minister of Transportation & Intelligence (Likud) Yisrael Katz on Tuesday, 6 Tammuz, was menachem aveil Rosh Yeshiva HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlita, who is sitting shiva for his son, Rav Shimon Yosef Edelstein Z”L.
During his discussion with Rav Edelstein, the minister said, “The nation is surrounded by enemies and lives by miracles, and I, as Minister of Intelligence, am aware of exactly those nations around us want to do to us, including Iran, and I know that these miracles occur because of the zechus of your limud Torah”.
Rav Edelstein responded, “All we do, and all our success are only miracles, only miracles”.
It is added during the morning hours on Tuesday, persons being menachem aveil included Rosh Yeshivas Kol Yaakov HaGaon Rav Yehuda Addas, the Chernobyl Rebbe and Alexander Rebbe.
After the visit the minister tweeted, “I came to be menachem aveil at Rav Edelstein, Rosh Yeshivas Ponevezh and head of the Litvish Moetzas Gedolei Torah, who has much grief over the death of his son Rav Yosef. I was moved by his unique personality, his modesty, simplicity, and his tremendous comprehension of Torah, the very same Torah which distinguishes us as the Jewish people, in our land and state.”
