A tempestuous meeting of the Yahadut Hatorah political party took place on Monday, as the various factions that comprise the party took aim at one another over the controversial conscription law. The Degel Hatorah faction attacked Agudas Yisroel and claimed that they are acting unilaterally on behalf of the entire party without consulting with them.

Shouts were heard from the next room as Degel Hatorah MKs shouted claims that on such matters the party needs to act in a unified fashion in order to achieve the desired results.

MKs Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev showed their anger at the ideas that MK Menachem Eliezer Moses had disseminated to the media. “Silence is the best course of action right now for this issue. Why did you go and speak publicly in a way that damages the Charedi position?”

In response, Moses said that the position he espoused was that taken by the Admorim of the Moetzes gedolei Hatorah of Agudas Yisroel, and that he was doing his job faithfully in explaining the position of the greatest Chassidic sages of the generation to the Jewish people.
