IDF standing forces working with reservists and Shin Bet agents, operated in Shechem as part of the ongoing effort to dismantle the Hamas infrastructure. Their operation included the arrests of terrorists. They were operating during the past month based on specific intelligence information that led to the arrests of cell members, most of whom affiliated with Hamas and were planning major terror attacks.

IDF reserve duty captain, Eitan Lavie, explains on video IDF forces during the last month, working with Shin Bet agents, apprehended members of a Hamas cell which planned serious attacks inside Green Line Israel. Most of the close to two-dozen cell members are affiliated with Hamas in Gaza, and they were taken into Shin Bet custody for interrogation. During the operations, they confiscated firearms and high-grade explosives.

That interrogation led to the revelation they among the attacks planned were suicide bombings inside major cities including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

An indictment was filed on Sunday, 4 Tammuz, against some of the suspects in a military court.
