A bill initiated by MK (Yisrael Beitenu) Robert Ilatov, aimed against left-wing radicals who photograph IDF soldiers while operating, has been approved by the Ministerial Legislation Committee on Sunday, 4 Tammuz. The bill prohibits persons from taking photographs of IDF soldiers while on duty. The committee will be discussing the bill, which will also be adopted to pertain to Israel Police, to prevent interfering with a policeperson in the act of duty.
Ilatov feels that the current situation in unacceptable, as left-winger activists routinely interfere with IDF soldiers manning positions as they seek to document unacceptable actions by the soldiers.
Party leader and Defense Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, praised the committee in his Twitter response in the hope of putting an end to “defaming soldiers”, as he put it.
