An Arab man on Friday attacked an elderly Jewish man who was traveling on a bus on Route 1. Police were summoned, and told there was an assault taking place on a public bus.

It is reported the suspect who was taken into custody is a 23-year-old resident of Abu Gosh and the victim is a man in his 80s. The attacker used a full can of soda. He was apprehended while still holding the can.

It appears the two got into an exchange of words and the attacker then struck the victim. The victim was taken for medical care.

The suspect was arraigned on motzei Shabbos and his remand was extended.
