Elkin Makes First Election Promise As Jerusalem Mayoral Candidate – A Kiddush With Hot Cholent

Mk and Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Ze’ev Elkin made his first election promise in his bid to become the next Mayor of Jerusalem. The Minister recently changed his address to a Jerusalem address in order to pave the way for him to run for the position of Mayor in the upcoming October elections. Following which, he spent his first Shabbos in the neighborhood of Neve Yaakov where he made his promise.

Elkin, who until now lived in Kfar Eldad in Gush Etzion, spent the Shabbat in a house that he inherited from his mother in Neve Yaakov. He davened in the community shul of Mitnachlei Binyamin and was honored with shlishi during the kriyas haTorah. Following tefilah, he took part in the shul’s kiddush and even gave the Dvar Torah where he said that he planned to carry on the mission of Calev and Yehoshua in making Eretz Yisroel a better place to live.

One of the members of the community told BeChadrei Charedim that “Elkin was one of the first ten people in the shul that morning and that he prayed with tremendous kavanah. At the end of Tefilah, he promised that when he gets elected he would hold a  kiddush for the shul from his own private money and would include a hot cholent.”
