IDF To Use Drones to Fight ‘Kite Bombs’ As Gaza Youth Vow To See Israel Up In Flames

In recent weeks, Israel has struggled with the new phenomenon of flaming kites flown over the border into Israel. The kites have caused wildfires and extensive damage to Israeli agricultural land nearby.

The message in Gaza is one of continued warfare, as the youth vow to continue sending fire kites over the border to southern Israel until they see “Israel ablaze”.

Ynet reports that today, there is a special Kite Unit in Gaza, which vows to show Israel burning on Facebook. The report adds that often, the kites will be painted with the Palestinian flag or swastikas. One person is quoted saying “a kite is the best weapon and the most important one we have in Gaza”.

The kite fighters are quoted saying that when rockets are fired into Israel, there is a response but there are no responses for the launching of kites.

There have been many fires resulting from the burning kites, including much Gaza border farmland as well as at Sapir College in the northern Negev, totaling millions of shekel in damages.

The IDF said it has adopted the use of drones to intercept some 500 kites and flaming balloons.

Col. Nadav Livne, commander of the unit operating the drones, told reporters Thursday that the drones now have a “more than 90 percent” success rate in taking down the kites.

“But it’s not 100 percent protection,” he said.

  2. Can’t the drones drop them back in gaza whilst still on fire then let’s see what the world says when gaza goes up in flames

  3. It’s amazing.. when chechnians started up with russians, it only happened once. They took over a Russian movie theater and made demands. Well, the Russians bombed the theater with over 200 of it’s people and guess what, it never happened again. Israel is too nice to the animals, they should follow the russian example
