For a first time since the 2014 IDF counter-terrorism operation in Gaza known as Operation Protective Edge, a rocket fired from Gaza slammed into Netivot, damaging a soccer field. B’chasdei Hashem, no one was injured or worse.
Hamas has released messages that it is not interested in renewed warfare with Israel, insisting the Palestinian Islamic Jihad is responsible for the rocket fire. Israel holds Hamas responsible for all cross-border attacks, as the ruling entity in Gaza.
Over 100 rockets were fired into southern Israel from Tuesday morning 15 Sivan at 6:59AM until Wednesday morning a 5:30AM. B’chasdei Hashem, only a handful of persons were injured, most of them lightly. One soldier sustained moderate shrapnel injuries to his lower extremities in an attack in the Eshkol Regional Council. The injured were taken to Soroka Hospital in Beersheva.
Hamas at 5:30AM Wednesday morning announced it persuaded the Palestinian Islamic Jihad to observe a ceasefire. Communities in proximity to the Gaza border are under restrictions and schools are closed. Other communities in rocket range, over the 15km marker from the border, are operating more or less as usual.
