According to a Channel 2 Hadashot News report, an aerial incident involving Russian and Israeli fighter jets occurred over Lebanon on Monday morning, 14 Sivan.
Two IAF F16 fighter planes were reportedly operating in Lebanese airspace when they were met by Russian SU-34 fighter planes and compelled to turn around and head back to Israeli airspace. There is no official comment on the report. According to the reports cited by Hadashot, the Russian planes may have been taking part in drills off the coast of Lebanon and Syria but were forced to land due to bad weather conditions.
There is footage released to social media claiming to be Russian fighter planes over Tripoli – but the clip did not show any Israeli jets.
Russia and Israel were yet to confirm the validity of the reports.

Clearly the incident is being studied in Israel and the United States, as if Russia has decided to involve itself in day-to-day aerial military realities in Lebanon and Syria, it may result in new rules of engagement and operation, and the situation is likely to involve the USA, albeit not necessarily in the media.
Last week, the head of Israel’s Air Force Amiram Norkin, showed a picture of an Israeli F-35 stealth fighter jet — a warplane that has conducted airstrikes previously — flying near Beirut.

maybe they are only interested in shooting Russians down when it’s a first of class like when they were the first f-16s to shoot down a mig. so keep an eye out to see if the f-35 will hang out in lebanon to try to shoot down more more migs (maybe they are even hoping to get a sukhoi su 57 when they come on board next year…………..

111; I see, I was unaware of that incident. That being over 47 years ago I don’t think it can be used as a guide for the present situation. Then the Soviets were actively supporting an enemy state engaged in hostilities against them. That is not their objective in Syria.
