Speaking on Channel 2’s Meet the Press on motzei shabbos the eve of 2 Shevat 5773, Meretz Party leader MK Zahava Gal-On spoke of the need to create a centrist/left-wing bloc to keep Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu out of office following the elections.

Gal-On stated that Meretz is the only genuine left-wing party in Knesset, stating that Labor has always compromised and that party’s agenda today under the leadership of Shelly Yacimovich is not right-wing. She feels that the same is true for Yair Lapid and his Yesh Atid Party, which she believes is centrist as is Labor.
