The Police Frontal Command Post is set up at Kibbutz Ramat Rachel, some 700 meters from the US Embassy dedication, set to begin at 4:00PM Israel time. The area is a sterile security area, and area streets have been shut while police continue to close other routes leading to the area as they said would be the case.
Despite the ongoing violence in Gaza, it is reported police intelligence have not received an increase in concrete threats. Thousands of IDF soldiers are deployed along the Gaza fence as Hamas reports over 30,000 Gazans have already gathered at ten different flash points with IDF forces. Gaza media reports ten dead and over 500 wounded as the protesters burn tires and hurl rocks at security forces. Israel has warned soldiers have instructions to act, not to permit anyone to cross or compromise the border fence.
In Jerusalem, security remains high and there is a large police presence in the areas, including the Arab neighborhood of Tzur Bachar, adjacent to the embassy dedication, as well as in other areas and the dedication is expected to take place without incident.
Police, border police, Yassam commando forces, plainclothes and specialized units are involved in the security in the capital. EMS units will be taking up their position as well as pedestrians begin to line the police barricades in the hope of getting a look at events.
