In honor of Yom Yerushalayim, the City of David archive displays a selection of nostalgic photos taken by various organizations in Jerusalem over the last 150 years and accumulated in the Library of Congress Library.
The photographs, most of which were taken between 1898 and 1946, were compiled into an album showing familiar areas of Jerusalem from a less familiar perspective.
For example, British soldiers are seen resting on the slopes of the City of David and behind them are the walls of the Old City and Har Habayis. The famous Shiloach Tunnel in the City of David was documented during the Ottoman period when a Turkish soldier marches in it.
In one of the pictures that document the Kosel, it is interesting to see a joint tefilla of men alongside women. A few of the Yemenite immigrants who lived in the village of Shiloach descend to draw water from the nearby Gihon spring, busy merchants on a lively day of commerce near the Shar Shechem, and a Jew walking through the alleys of the Old City of Jerusalem.

There is NO JOINT TEFILLA of men alongside women!There is men and women obviously posed for the camera! The Turkish and then British authorities forbade the erection of a mechitza, but nevertheless, men and women prayed in separate groups!
