No Surprise: Left Takes Tel Aviv U. Mock Elections


The results of the mock elections held in Tel Aviv University do not come as a surprise for anyone as the campus is known to be primarily secular left-wing.

The radical left-wing Meretz Party earned 21% of the vote while Likud emerged in seventh place. Baruch Hashem Meretz’s victory is limited to mock elections and the party remains between 3-4 seats in the true national election polls.

On Tuesday, 26 Teves 5773, 4,000 students took part in campus elections, in which Meretz led with 21.3%, followed by Labor with 19.6%, and Yesh Atid with 14.6%. Bayit HaYehudi earned fourth place with 8% and The Movement 7.4%.
