Jerusalem Old City Rabbonim Angered Over Old City Cultural Program which Includes Treif Food & Pritzus

Rabbonim of Jerusalem’s Old City are angry over the planned event scheduled for Tuesday, 23 Iyar. The opening of the major event aroused the wrath of rabbonim who wanted to cancel it because of non-kosher food served and the performances that do not fit the kedusha of the Old City.

According to the reports, “On Tuesday through Thursday, the alleys of the Old City will become a magical kingdom – the Middle Golden Tooth Kingdom. Visitors to the kingdom will enjoy a variety of attractions, including a Pyrotechnic show at the Jaffa Gate.”

“In the street theater or Independence Day celebrations of the magical kingdom, you can enjoy a royal parade, an aerial display above the Tower of David, street performances of dozens of acrobats and acrobats, live orchestras and a variety of street performances by local and international artists.”

Jerusalem Councilman Aryeh King, who was fighting the event, says: “Politicians have turned Jerusalem the holy city, into a platform for their personal advancement through acts of arrogance and lacking modesty. The contempt of those politicians not only for the sanctity of the city but also for the residents of the Holy City.”

King accuses the chareidi representatives of ignoring the event. “As a member of the city council, I tried for four years to reduce the harm to the sanctity of the city and the residents of the city and unfortunately the mayor and most of his religious and chareidi members of the coalition opposed my proposals.

Now it turns out that other politicians who see themselves as candidates for mayor do not place the sanctity of the city and its residents at the top of their priorities. I hope that when the residents come to the polls in six months, they will not forget it.”

The rabbonim are angry, questioning how treif can be served in the Old City, so close to the Kosel and why chareidi representatives have remained silent instead of opposing the event.
