Minister of Culture & Sports (Likud) Miri Regev announced she would do her utmost to have Elor Azariya’s criminal record expunged. She made her comments on Tuesday, 23 Iyar, after the former IDF soldier was released from prison after serving a sentence after being convicted of manslaughter for shooting a wounded Arab terrorist.
Regev joins Minister Yisrael Katz, who following Azariya’s release stated he would ask President Reuven Rivlin to expunge his criminal record to facilitate Elor’s efforts to get on with his life after being released from prison.
Regev spoke with Elor’s parents, visiting their home, wishing them well upon his release. She promised Elor’s dad she will continue standing by his side by trying to have his criminal record removed to facilitate his moving forward in life.
