Minister (Likud) of Jerusalem Affairs Ze’ev Elkin is likely to officially announce his entry in the Jerusalem mayoral race as the candidate of the Likud party after colleague MK (Likud) David Amsellem backed out.
According to a Channel 20 News report, internal polls show Elkin as a good chance to emerge the victor in the mayoral race. At a party Knesset faction meeting, participants were asked to give him their best wishes ,which they did. Outgoing Mayor Nir Barkat has also wished Elkin well in the race.
Elkin was moved by the good wishes and announced he would soon make his decision.
