The question many are asking is “What happened to the police in Yerushalayim”, as Sikrikim have shut down Kikar Shabbos in the capital on most weekday nights in recent weeks.
In fact, the major intersection was shut against on Monday night the eve of 23 Iyar, as is the case daily, as they protest and destroy property indiscriminately, reportedly as part of their protest against their claims of induction of women and bnei Torah into the IDF by the Zionists.
For residents, bus travelers and persons wishing to drive through the area, they are all asking why police have abandoned the area and why are they permitting sikrikim to do as they wish daily, from about 8:00PM until midnight. Needless to say that for the elderly of the Geula and Meah Shearim neighborhoods, the daily occurrence is a nightmare.
Some opine police believed if left to themselves, the sikrikim would tire as there is less of a challenge closing the intersection when they are not confronted by police. However, today, weeks later, it appears the modern-day chareidi-garbed hoodlums are not tiring any day soon and a growing number of respectable citizens are waiting for police to intervene.

I don’t understand why they receive preferential treatment. If these were Arabs rioting and causing such damage and inconvenience, I don’t think anyone would allow them to “tire themselves out”, and rightfully so. The police should show up in full riot-gear, tear gas, and rubber bullets.
I understand the frustration of the passbyers, but knocking the protesters who are doing so in their opinion Leshem Shamaim Bemisiras Nefesh as they see a Gezeiras Shmad hovering over them, and behaskamaas their Gedolim, who until this fiasco were widely respected across the spectrum is not right either.
Sorry but the word you used “sikrikin” means something different

it is terrible that these frum hoodlums can block traffic for so long with out much of a real reason. The girls in question claimed to be religious but really were using it to get out of the army while they do NOT observe mitzvos….
Such a shame that Yiddishkeit has gone down into such a low level of being….
Why should police intervene? They tried to help for years, got nothing but hate, and decided it was not worth the time.
Lets imagine this was nyc times square and groups gathered there nightly to cause mayhem. Even under Dinkins such a thing woiud be history after less then one protest. The police would line up as many cops as was needed before, during and after the protests. Paddy wagons would be waiting to transport the protesters. Finally the leaders of the protesters would be arresred and held accountable. Bottom line the police in Israel either are inept or couldn’t care less about the charaidim their attitude is take care of yourself. I was in Erzr yisroel 5 years ago posters with the times of the protests are hung up., yet about 10 cops showed up half hour after the action got out of nand.
Smart move on the part of the police. It is time for Chareidi leaders to speak up and loudly and publicly protest the actions of these people . It’s time for them to be mocheh against the mosdos hachinuch that produce such hooligans. Until that time let the neighborhood suffer the consequences of its own actions. The days of tolerating extremism and then knocking the “tziyonim” who come to save you from your own mess are hopefully over.

Let’s be clear and honest. Stupidity is never “Leshem Shamaim”. Your application of this alleged “Leshem Shamaim” would excuse such things as the Reform movement, and certainly the Conservative movement (which was created specifically to oppose the Reform) as “Leshem Shamaim”. The fact is that anyone with the slightest heder education has been taught the story with a punch line that goes something like being in such a hurry as to mistake kerosene for water in putting out a fire. The fact is that the more trouble the extremists cause under the guise of “hareidi” the more ammunition they give those who want to throw out the entire Hareidi system. The fact is (for example) that those like Lapid were elected on nothing more than the extremists behaviour towards little girls (captured copiously on video).

You are technically correct, but this is the word used in Jerusalem to describe these hoodlums….
