Minister of Energy (Likud) Dr. Yuval Steinitz on Monday, 22 Iyar, told Yediot Achronot that Israel will not hesitate to wipe out Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad if such a move is demanded.

He warned if Assad continues to work with Iran to permit the latter to solidify its regional presence, then Israel will be compelled to act. He explained Israel is not going to tolerate an Iranian presence in Syria, which would be used to launch attacks against Israel.
