Kever Yosef in PA (Palestinian Authority) occupied Shechem is historic and it is a site of significant importance to Klal Yisrael. Several times, PA residents have defaced, defiled and set the site ablaze. The Shomron Regional Council has undertaken caring for the holy site and it has repeatedly carried out repairs and renovations.

In light of this, the council, together with the director of Kever Yosef and the holy sites in Shomron and with the help of the IDF, held a lightning renovation of the site in the dark of the night.

The renovation included, among others, the head of the Shomron Regional Council Yossi Dagan, his deputy David Bentzion, the IDF Shomron Brigade Commander Col. Gilad Amit, the Yehuda & Shomron Regional Command officer Elitzur Trabelsi, and others.

“It is a wonderful feeling to know that you can work for the people of Israel, for the sake of renovating and improving the face of a place that generations of generations have dreamed of and longed for. In the face of the barbarism of the Palestinian Authority, we preserve the holy places,” Dagan said.

“It is our job, as residents of the region, to be in charge of the site, to preserve the place for all the citizens of Israel and the Jewish people, and I am glad that the IDF and the Shomron Brigade, under the command of Gilad Amit, have made this important move and strengthens settlement,” he added.
