The head of the Jerusalem education system on Wednesday, 17 Iyar, called on students around the city to cancel planned Lag B’Omer bonfires due to weather forecasts calling for unseasonably strong wind gusts. The call is issued to students nationwide, especially those living in the capital – to cancel planned bonfires to prevent catastrophe.
The message includes, “In past years, bonfires were huge and led to endangering human life and property, and despite the disappointment associated with canceling, there is no need to point out that the well-being of the students far surpasses every and all other concerns.”
