MK Nissim Ze’ev is among the most veteran Shas MKs, not to mention among the party’s founders. He is one of the audible voices from within the party who feels Aryeh Deri’s recent ethnicity campaign to attract Sephardi voters has not been successful since Shas hasn’t risen in the polls.
Deri has been highlighting how Shas and Shas alone will advance the cause of Sephardim and continue combating ethnic discrimination. Ze’ev on the other hand feels Shas should abandon that campaign and focus on tooting the party horn, to remind voters of just what Shas has accomplished over the years.
A Shas MK quoted anonymously by the daily Yisrael Hayom says “Many of the MKs are not in agreement, wishing to ditch the ethnicity campaign”, preferring to simply focus on reminding the tzibur of the party’s accomplishments in recent years.
