A pilot and navigator in an Israel Air Force F-16 fighter jet were forced to eject as the plane was trying to land at the Ramat David base. The crew reported a malfunction with the plane and they were heading in from standard maneuvers when they had to get out of the aircraft.
The plane continued down the runway at a speed of 300 KPH until it came to a halt. The aircraft was damaged.
IAF Commander Major-General Amir Eshel ordered a halt to all training exercises pending an investigation into the incident.
The pilot and navigator were uninjured but were taken to a medical facility to be checked as a precautionary measure.
