Hiddush Challenges Shas Campaign & Rav Ovadia Bracha App

The Hiddush organization is opposed to Shas’ use of Kameyos and amulets promising brachos to supporters of Shas in the upcoming general elections. Hiddush also opposes the מרן שליט”א (Maran Shlita) android app which shows videos of the Gadol Hador, permits one to submit one’s name for a bracha, and provides a daily Halacha.

Hiddush feels the app, Kameyos and amulets are a violation of election law and must be stopped by election officials.

  1. There is nothing like the Israeli concept of civil rights to make one appreciate, in spite of all its faults, the United States.

  2. THE PETTY MACHLOKOS IN THE FRUM COMMUNITY IN YISRAEL, AND THE SPLITTING OF FRUM YIDDEN INTO A PLETHORA OF PARTIES IS A MONUMENTAL CHILUL HASHEM OF THE FIRST ORDER, AND BODES NO GOOD FOR YIDDISHKEIT AND FOR MEDINAS YIRAEL. IF ALL TFILIN-WEARING, SHOMREI-SHABBOS CAME TOGETHER IN ONE PARTY, WHAT CLOUT WE WOULD HAVE – IT WOULD SHAKE UP THE WHOLE COUNTRY AND ALL WOULD GAINI!!!!!

  3. #3 — Appealing to religious sentiment is typically banned in many countries, e.g. North Korea. In the United States, the only restrictions are on matters such as funding (e.g. tax exempt religious organization can’t be too political unless they want to give up their tax exemption). Substantive speech is protected by the US consitution.
