Residents of a number of streets in Modi’in Illit have been complaining for a lack for water pressure for some time. At times, there is no water whatsoever, they explain, calling on the city’s leaders to address the matter. According to a Kikar Shabbos News report quoting residents, city officials simply direct them from one office to another, but there is no solution to the problem in site. However, folks in City Hall promise the solution is forthcoming.
The residents point out the bad situation becomes critical on erev Shabbos and Yomim Tovim, times when everyone is using water and they are left literally dry. The same is true on motzei Shabbos they lament.
The report quotes city officials explaining the building is not receiving sufficient water pressure and residents can install water pumps that will resolve the matter. They explain a pump can be installed for each building and each resident is not required to do so. If the issue is only found on a certain floor of the building, they the pump solution can be implemented, albeit on a local level in the building.
Residents explain the foot-dragging is no longer tolerable as they found themselves without water too often during Pesach, adding summer is not far off.
