United Hatzalah volunteer EMS marine unit and ambuboat rescued five people whose boat was a drift on the Kineret on Monday, the second day Chol Hamoed Pesach.
Tiveria chapter head and Marine Unit Commander Yossi Vaknin said: “We were on the west coast of the Sea when we got a call that a pillar of smoke was rising from a boat. They seemed like they were in trouble. We traveled across the sea to the eastern shore. We found this boat with five people on it who had apparently been on the water for a number of hours. We tied them to our boat and currently towing them in to the coast. It appears that we have at least one case of dehydration. We will be treating the affected person and checking the others when we arrive at the coast.
In a message to beachgoers and swimmers coming to the Kineret for vacation, Vaknin said: “People need to begin to take precautions and be careful when heading out onto the water. Always go out in pairs at minimum. Obviously, anyone who swims in the water should be extra careful. Only swim in designated beaches and don’t swim too far away from the beach.”
