The High Court of Justice rejected the appeal of the Salomon family who requested that the police and IDF destroy the entire building of the home that belonged to the terrorist who broke into their house in Halamish 8 months ago and murdered Rabbi Yosef Salomon and his two children Elad and Chaya HY”D.
The High Court is maintaining its position which states that the IDF and polie are only allowed to destroy the floor of a building in which the terrorist lived and cannot destroy the entire structure.
Even though the position of the High Court on this matter is known, the Solomon family had hoped that the entire building would be demolished in this instance because family members of the terrorists were convicted of aiding and abetting him in his heinous act.
Following the decision made today, the father of Michal Salomon, the widow of Elad who was slain in the attack said: “The destroying of terrorist homes, is not meant to be a punishment but a deterrent against future attacks. If the family of the terrorist can simply live one floor above where they used to and get considerable financial assistance from the Palestinian Authority, then the destruction isn’t a deterrent it’s something the encourages such acts.”
