Three MKs from the Likud are calling for the immediate release of Elor Azariya to permit him to spend Pesach at home with his family. On Monday, 3 Nissan, a court decided to clear one-third from his sentence, which means he will be out of prison in about six weeks.

Culture Minister Miri Regev and MKs Naveh Boker and Oren Chazan are calling for Azariya’s released before Pesach.

Azariya was convicted of manslaughter after he fired at a wounded terrorist in Hebron a short time after the same terrorist stabbed and wounded an IDF soldier. It was determined the wounded terrorist no longer posed a threat when Azariya killed him. He was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment. After asking for leniency, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gadi Eizenkott removed four months from his term, and now, a court removed a third from the remaining time.

A number of high-ranking state officials called for a pardon for the young soldier, including Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
