The Shin Bet announced it apprehended the terrorist responsible for the fatal terror attack that was perpetrated at Ariel Junction in Shomron on February 5, 2018. Rabbi Itamar Ben-Gal HY”D was murdered in the stabbing attack.

Shin Bet and IDF forces operated during motzei Shabbos to apprehend the terrorist, 19-year-old Abed ak-Karim Assi, who was taken into custody in Shechem.

Assi is an Israeli Arab from Jaffa and has been the subject of a manhunt since fleeing the scene of the attack in February. An IDF office struck him twice with a vehicle but he managed to flee since no one opened fire at him.

Rav Ben-Gal was 29 at the time, married and the father of four. He was a resident of Har Bracha.
