Lieberman Plans to Return to his Office Soon

In his brief statement to the media as he submitted his letter of resignation to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday morning 3 Teves 5773, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman expressed confidence that it would not be too long until he returns. The senior cabinet minister cited how the last almost four years were most productive and fulfilling, explaining that he will not be accepting any plea bargain agreements but plans to take his case to court to prove his innocence.

State Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein last week announced he is moving ahead with a criminal indictment against Lieberman in a breach of trust and fraud case but was closing the major case against the senior minister, a case that has been open for over a decade, addressing allegations of money laundering and related charges.

Liberman on Sunday morning sounded calm, explaining his resignation take effect in 48 hours, on Tuesday 5 Teves at 10:30, expressing confidence a court of law will show his innocence and permit his return to his cabinet seat.
