Yinon Azoulai, a son of Minister of Religious Services David Azoulai, has been sworn in as a member of Knesset for the Shas party. Minister Azoulai resigned as a MK to clear the way for his son to enter. The father has to undergo medical treatment and felt it was too much for him so he cleared the way for his son to enter.
On Wednesday, 27 Adar, the young Azoulai took the oath of office in the presence of his parents and other family members.
The law permits a minister to serve as a cabinet member without being a Member of Knesset. This is the case here. Hence there are still only 120 MKs, the legal limit, while there are at times, such as this case, where there are cabinet ministers who are not MKs.
