The wedding of the Nasi of Ponavezh Yeshiva, HaRav Eliezer Kahaneman took place on Thursday night. The kallah is Mrs. Chana Sternshaus, 70, from a Gerrer Chassidic family.
Rav Kahaneman, 71, was widowed from his first wife Rebitzen Elisheva A”H in Iyar 5775. They had 14 children together.
YWN previously reported that the Gerrer Rebbe, who is a friend of the Kahaneman family, was very much involved in the shidduch.

I believe ceremonies such as this, should be kept private out of the public eye and not disseminated on ywn.
Does YWN have Rav Kahaneman’s consent to this being on the Internet like this?
Bob: Strongly disagree. Such a wonderful simcha for these two ehrliche yidden in their older years should be shared with the tzibur and serve as an example for others. Too many older yidden live out their lives alone when there is so much opportunity to share many years with another who may have never married or lost a husband/wife. This is especially true as we live longer lives in good healh. For some reason, there is not a real “shidduch network” for seniors and where sucessful shiduchi occur, it results from personal involvement of the respective families. In this case, both the chassan/kallah are living active lives alone and now together. In the real world, as individuals age further, there also are lots of informal “relationships” that develop in retirement homes and senior living facilities but rarely do we see a chassanah. So, much simcha and hatzlacha to R Kahanamen and Ms. Sternshaus.
Agreed. This is the stuff of gutter journalism. Now we know where YWN positions itself.
