(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)
In the accompanying video, we can hear the grandfather of the 10-year-old driver doing his best to explain to police why his grandson was at the wheel.
“When we stopped the vehicle for inspection we could not believe our eyes, a child was behind the wheel, a ten-year-old, with his grandfather seated to his side” explained one of the officers.
On Monday, 18 Adar, police and border police were involved in routine vehicle inspections in southern Jerusalem. A jeep was among the vehicles stopped, in the Har Choma neighborhood.
The grandfather did his best to explain the situation, but he was nevertheless detained by police and given a summons for permitting the child to drive. His vehicle was also impounded for thirty days.
