High Court Rejects Petition From Bnei Brak City Hall

The High Court of Justice on Monday, 18 Adar, rejected a petition filed by Bnei Brak City Hall to cancel an interim order issued two months earlier by a district court, an order that to freeze the process of allocation to disputed institutions against which the petitions were filed. In short, the city’s allocation of funding to mosdos and NGOs is under attack, accused of favoritism and conflicts of interest.

The so-called disputed institutions include for example, mosdos connected to the Yad L’Achim NGO, headed by a person close to city treasurer Eric Adler, or other NGOs connected to Deputy Mayor (Shas) Eli Dadon or NGOs with affiliated Gerre Chassidim, headed by Mayor Chanoch Zeibert.

The petitioners, from the Kerem Gefen Yisrael (כרם גפן ישראל) NGO represented by attorneys David Dror and Yuval Greenstein allege the city’s process of allocating funds is tainted and unacceptable, and generally based on an organization being close to one city official or another.

The court turned down the city’s petition to override the district court injunction and instructed City Hall to cover court costs in the amount of NIS 3,000.
